Tatyana Troyanskaya (Echo of Moscow Radio, St. Petersburg) and German Moyzhes (Lev Kopelev Forum, Cologne) will hold a discussion with Fritz Pleitgen, German TV-reporter in the USSR. The event takes place in the framework of the Germany Week 2019.
Fritz Pleitgen (born in 1938 in Duisburg) has worked from 1970 to 1977 as a foreign correspondent in Moscow and managed to travel all over the USSR during this time. Until now, he feels warm to Russia. Thanks to his reports, many Germans learned more about our country. As a witness of historical events, Pleitgen will tell about the 70s held in Moscow, about interviews with L. Brezhnev and friendship with the Soviet intelligentsia and dissidents. Till nowadays, Fritz Pleitgen stands for international dialogue. He is the honorary chairman of the Lev Kopelev Forum in Cologne. In 2017, Pleitgen was awarded the Dr. Friedrich Joseph Haass prize, and in early 2019 he was awarded the P. K. Anokhin Gold Medal for the opening of a new Children's Cancer Center in Perm.
